The coronavirus pandemic has forced thousands of couples to compromise their 2020 wedding plans.

With social distancing in force and long distance travel being canceled, most wedding celebrations have been postponed or completely re-invented. Many couples have luckily managed to reschedule to next year, but depending on how everything plays out they may still face restrictions on large group gatherings in 2021.

Scary thought? Well, it doesn’t have to be.

The emergence of “Zoom weddings” and “Facetime photo sessions” indicate that couples are not letting the quarantine get in the way of their timeline and their love. Thanks to technology, they are even able to live stream to share with family and friends!

But a lot of pandemic newlyweds have had to sacrifice a meaningful component of their union:
their professional wedding photos.

Great news, it’s never too late to get them done!

Even with social distancing, you can hire a professional photographer to document your intimate story and get stunning photos of the two of you. And if you already got married during the quarantine, there is such a thing as “post-wedding photography”.

Meet Zoie and Kahlil

I shot with these two beautiful newlyweds earlier this year in Texas. They had eloped to Jamaica on a whim, and as romantic as it was they had no images to showcase their union!

So they called on me to photograph them in Dallas in their wedding outfits. These two had so much fun dressing up again and celebrating their love in iconic parts of the city, such as Thanksgiving Square, the Giant Eyeball, and the luminous Downtown skyline.

What they had to say about the experience:

“I am beyond satisfied and elated with our Wedding photos!! Jasna and her work gives us so much life!! She is a true professional! Jasna was so courteous to help us prepare ahead of time for things we might need for the shoot - that was a real life saver that helped to make everything so perfect. And her energy was calm and confident, she knew exactly where to be at just the right time to capture each magical moment. Her artistic eye for location and composition set the romance for timeless and classic images that we will be appreciated in any era for years to come! She gave amazing direction to help us with our body placement so we didn't have any awkward looking angles in any of our images! I'm so thankful she cares enough about the details like that, and it certainly shows in her work! She was such a joy and pleasure to work with which truly added to the experience. I can't sing this wonderful Lady's praises enough! Hiring Jasna was the best decision, and we highly recommend her to give you the wedding photos of your dreams! She certainly made our wedding photo dreams come true!!” - Zoie Vandal

These wedding photos were shot right as the Black Lives Matter movement was brought back to light, so I wanted to share some personal thoughts.

I won't get political, I think we're getting enough of that from the media, but I will say that loving each other is of utmost importance. Racism has always been there, in America and all over the world. The current light on this issue is an opportunity for personal change. Listen to each other's stories, be supportive, and most of all educate yourselves. Yes, you too. It's easy to point a finger, but it's not a solution. We all need to make space for what we normally don't see.

This month's blog entry is to bring some comfort to the pandemic realities we have been facing, offering some reassurance and solutions to couples affected with their wedding plans. But thanks to the beautiful featured couple, I hope it is also an opportunity to bring further awareness...

Love is more than skin deep.
