A wedding worth the wait
It was indeed a wedding “Werth” the wait, even for us documenting it!
We met Sarah and Dylan in 2023, when we documented her brother Ryan’s wedding (which you can view here). It is truly a testament to our work when we get hired by the friends and families of our former clients, and such a treat to celebrate with the same people again!
We already loved Sarah and Dylan’s adorable persona and dynamic upon meeting them, and were thrilled when they reached out about covering their wedding. It was like a wonderful deja-vu to get them in front of our cameras again, and a novel experience to celebrate them as Mr. and Mrs. Werth.
Getting Ready
Sarah and Dylan held their wedding at the beautiful venue Chapel at Palacios in Dallas, TX. They both got ready on site, and we split our team to cover both sides of the story. It was fun spending time with them and capture candid moments of the initial excitement of the day.
Their color palette was an elegant white and blue, with cute little touches (such as the groom’s socks having the bride’s face on them). Sarah and her mother were all smiles all day, it was adorable!
Once they were ready, Sarah and Dylan did a “first touch” - slightly different from a first look, as they did not see each other but rather spent time in each other’s company, holding hands and reading their private vows to each other. It was very sweet and a very good idea, as they got to share an intimate moment and save seeing each other at the alter!
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at the chapel on site, across a little bridge and waterway from the main venue and away from the Texas summer sun. After everyone took their seats, the wedding party started walking down the aisle (which included six adorable flower girls and ring bearers) to join Dylan, who teared up upon witnessing his beautiful bride.
After some some readings, Sarah and Dylan exchanged rings, and performed a sand pouring ritual, uniting white and blue colored sand into a joint vessel. They were so excited to finally be married that upon being pronounced husband and wife, they kissed not once but multiple times!
Portraits
After the ceremony concluded, guests were instructed back to the reception hall for cocktail hour while Sarah, Dylan, their families and the wedding party stayed behind for group portraits.
These images typically take longer than desired to execute, but these were great groups who followed instructions well so we moved through them pretty quickly! This allowed us some time to get the two newlyweds together and walk around their venue for their first photo shoot as a married couple.
Reception
Meanwhile, cocktail hour was a pleasant time. Guests sipped on their drinks, nibbled at the hors-d’oeuvres passed around, and interacted with some fun stations (including a photo booth, polaroid guestbook, and even a churro stand!).
When Sarah and Dylan made their grand entrance, the crowd came alive and cheered them on as they waltzed into their first dance together, and with their moms.
Afterwards, the parents announced a welcome speech and blessings for the couple, and everyone feasted on some delicious dinner and cake while we took Sarah and Dylan out for one more portrait session together during golden hour. We were glad to get a second round of shooting at this beautiful venue!
Dance Party
When we returned from the portrait session, the dance floor was already filled with family and friends of all generations. We managed to get a giant group photo before guests started heading out, but there was no shortage of people who stayed and danced for hours.
Sarah did a bouquet toss, caught by Dylan’s brother’s girlfriend, followed by Dylan doing a garter toss, caught by his other brother! Quite ironic and epic to have the groom’s two brothers “next to get married”!
After numerous Taylor Swift hits and other favorite tracks, Sarah and Dylan enjoyed a final private dance together while their guests lined up outside to send them off to a happy marriage and to their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic.
Wedding Film
We rejoice reliving their fun filled day through the moments captured in the photos, but there’s also something unique and special about watching their wedding film to feel their energy radiating. It’s really wonderful when we get to tell our client’s story more comprehensively through doing both wedding photography and videography.
Thank you for reading through this post and getting a glimpse into Sarah and Dylan’s wonderful day.
