Back in business!

Jasna

Austin, TX

Hello world, it’s been awhile!

For those who don’t know me, my name is Jasna Boudard. I’m an award winning photographer and filmmaker, and the founder of Travel Weddings. My team and I specialize in multicultural weddings in Austin, TX, and destination weddings all over the world.

We typically use this “stories” section of the website to blog about our client weddings and other celebrations, but this month I’d like to share my story.

I titled this entry “Back in Business” because I am finally ready to relaunch Travel Weddings after taking a whole year off from the business (literally this month last year was when we shot our last destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico).

As a creative entrepreneur, juggling a professional and personal life is already quite complicated. However, this past year has been extremely challenging on a personal level. My entire reality shifted as I moved to a new city, coped with three difficult heartbreaks, and went through a complete identity rehab. Building myself back up from ground zero took every drop of my attention and energy, and trying to keep a business afloat simultaneously was impossible. On top of that, I realized how emotionally triggered I started feeling at weddings and almost gave up on Travel Weddings altogether.

But, I refused to give up on myself.

I reconnected to my artistic practice (I create really cool video projection art you can check out here) and ended up meeting my now partner by collaborating on an art installation together. With his help, I ventured to new realms of my creative potential and dove into virtual reality, projection mapping on buildings, and creating city funded public art works. It felt so exciting and fulfilling that I was ready to make a permanent career change, but I started missing shooting weddings.

I didn’t feel that I was quite ready to take on new clients with so many months “out of practice”, so I started second shooting for another wedding photography and videography company. It felt so good to be back at it! Actively and frequently shooting again helped me learn new ways of perfecting my craft, upgrade my gear, and revamp the way I was photographing moments and making films. I’m really excited to implement these upgrades to Travel Weddings!

I must admit though, the main change from taking this past year off was finding new appreciation for love.

As a wedding photographer and a recovering people pleaser, I looked for love and validation outside myself. I was only as good as the love I was receiving, and my work suffered if I didn’t feel appreciated. With this personal transformation, I finally understood the importance of loving myself and the magic and resonance that it started attracting into my life.

This journey helped me attract the most wonderful humans to join my team and new clients to hire us for our services. Restarting Travel Weddings by recently booking my highest package with a dream client and preparing for an upcoming wedding for a past client’s sister feels so meaningful, and a reminder that my work is extremely special. Getting to create moments and share in people’s special milestones, while also celebrating the cultural abundance of this beautiful world is truly a dream come true.

Travel Weddings is back in business, and better than ever!

To all you international Austin people who are looking for a photo and video brand that understands and celebrates you, and that goes above and beyond to deliver quality and most importantly love, we’d love to connect with you!
