A surprise Dallas proposal
There are no limits to the lengths a man will go to propose to his girlfriend.
Jean-Claude spent a lot of time and energy coming up with a meaningful proposal. He wanted to give his girlfriend Monica a walk down memory lane. He rented out a beautiful pavilion in the picturesque Turtle Creek Park in Dallas, TX, and with the help of his friends set up “memory stations” for her to walk through. Each station had symbolic items to represent how they first met, their first date, their first kiss, etc.
To keep it a surprise, JC and his friends took advantage of the fact that Monica was graduating that month to fool her into thinking they had gotten her graduation photos as a gift. Because of that, it was easy to convince her to get dressed up for the occasion and do her hair / makeup / nails (most important for those ring photos!). They arrived together and met me at the location. Since I knew about the secret plans, I played along pretending we were doing her graduation photos that day and kept her distracted as we walked up to the proposal sight. Once she saw the setup, she knew something else was happening…
Needless to say, it was incredibly sweet, romantic, and emotional. JC stopped at each station to recall their memories and explain the items he chose to represent them (coffee and bagels, jelly beans, Stranger Things, and Starbucks). They then walked up to the pavilion where he had a giant sign with the words “Will you marry me?”
I’m sure you can guess her answer :)
Their friends who had helped orchestrate this day witnessed their proposal and eagerly congratulated them. They were just as much a part of making this moment possible so we took some group photos. And of course, we didn’t forget that Monica came for some graduation photos so we made sure to capture those too, with her shiny new accessory!
To honor their new status and all the hard work that went into planning this day, we took some portraits of the new “fiances” with all the important items from their love story.
JC and Monica decided to best utilize the two hours they hired me for to also get their engagement photos done (pro-tip: engagement photos are great to use for save-the-date cards, so might as well schedule them the same day if you’re eager to send invitations out asap! That and the genuine excitement that comes from a proposal is hard to match on any other day).
We walked around Turtle Creek Park and took some wonderful images of them blissed out and radiating with happiness.
It was SUCH a fun filled day. The pure joy that emanated from these two made these moments and images priceless.
Monica and Jean-Claude, thanks again for choosing me to share this beautiful experience with you. I wish you two all the very best in life and I can’t wait for all your future chapters together!
If you’re thinking of proposing (or would like your partner to), I would be thrilled to help you plan and capture this incredibly special moment.
